Pokemon cards have always been incredibly sought after and collectible but in recent months the market has been going crazy with prices seemingly rising every week.
This reason for the sudden rise is down to a lot of publicity and awareness on the pokemon community in recent weeks such as Logan Paul spending $200,000 on a 1st edition base edition bootster box and Logic spending $226,000 on one Pokemon card!
The card he bought was the 1st Edition Shadowless Charizard which is considered to be the Holy Grail for any Pokemon card collector.
This boom in prices can be traced back further to when a man called Gary went on Pawn Stars a few years ago asking $500,000 for his collection of PSA graded Charizard Pokemon cards. Surprisingly they turned down his offer into what is probably the worst decision made on the show as this collection is now worth in the region of $10 million.
So is now a good time to start investing in Pokemon cards? With these things it's incredibly hard to tell if they'll be desirable in the future although Pokemon is the highest grossing media franchise of all time (making $92 billion) and shows no signs of slowing down.
Pokemon cards are helped by the fact that they are extemely nostalgic, many adults will remember trading cards in the school playground at lunch time and saving up their pocket money to buy booster packs. Those adults are also getting to the stage in life when you traditionally have more disposable income so chances are there will be keen buyers around for many years to come.
